Permits for Lauderdale Lake Piers & Docks
Before installing a dock or lift, it’s important to follow Wisconsin DNR and local regulations. Though most residential piers qualify for exemptions, certain conditions may require permits. Our team can help you navigate the requirements so your project remains compliant.
Pier Guidelines:
- Piers placed before April 2012 are generally exempt from permits.
- New piers often qualify for exemption but must comply with local municipal ordinances.
- Permits may be required if the pier exceeds size limits, alters navigation or includes structural modifications.
- Piers must stay within your riparian zone.
- A pier may extend to a depth of 3 feet or hold a boat lift, with sections no wider than 6 feet.
- Platforms can be larger but cannot exceed 200 sq. ft. without a permit.
- Solid-fill piers always require DNR approval.
